Some of My Favorite Math Lesson Plans....

http://heatherpearmansequencedocuments.blogspot.com/p/lesson-plans.html

At this link you can find two of my written lesson plans for math in the fourth grade classroom. The first lesson focuses on creating equal equations using connecting cubes. The students participated in this lesson whole group on the carpet. The students were able to create equal equations using addition and subtraction problems. The second lesson plan includes the ability to graph data on a line graph. the students were able to go on a nature walk around the school and collect data and them plot the information on their graph.

Here are some wonderful pictures of the students participating in these activities involving math!

GRADE: 4th
GENDER: MALE STUDENT
CONCEPT: MULTIPLICATION

INTERVIEW: DIFFICULTY IN PROBLEM SOLVING, LACK OF WORD PROBLEM STRATEGIES, POOR KNOWLEDGE OF MULTIPLICATION FACTS, 2 DIGIT MULTIPLICATION, 3 DIGIT MULTIPLICATION, BASICS

RECOMMENDATIONS: The student lacks confidence in the concept and does not apply himself to his fullest potential. The main reason for this could be his lack of understanding of the concept. He is unable to problem solve and work out the problem given. I believe the use of manipulatives will allow him to better understand the material. The basics should be reviewed and covered again until he has full understanding. Two digit multiplication should be covered and problem solving strategies should be reviewed extensively. Word problems should be a huge part of the recommendations needed to better understand the concept. I believe a little hard work and resources will allow this student to have a much easier time in multiplication.

FOLLOW UP: After realizing he was struggling with multiplication I began working with him during intervention time. We worked with manipulatives and basics. He is starting to show progress in the concept of multiplication.
